DAMBAZAU COMMENDS INTERIOR ATHLETES FOR EXCELLING AT FEPSGA

The Minister of Interior, Lt Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd) has commended the Ministry’s Sports Club for bringing honour to the Ministry by winning 26 medals, comprising Gold, Silver and Bronze pin the 33rd and 34th editions of the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSA).
He gave the commendation on the occasion of the presentation of medals to the Ministry of Interior sports contingents who won medals at the 33rd and 34th editions of the Games held in Akure and Owerri respectively.
The Minister assured them that they deserved more commendation for their conduct which earned them the “Most Well-Behaved Team” at the 2015 Federation of Public Service Games held at Owerri, Imo State.
The Minister reiterated his promise to upgrade the Ministry’s sporting facilities, adding that plans were underway to provide adequate sporting kits and other needed incentives to boost the morale of the athletes for better performance in subsequent tournaments.
Dambazau, who gave cash donations to the medalists, further said that aside promoting unity and better understanding of one another among staff members, sporting activities also widens perception and alertness, which lead to better service delivery.
He therefore proposed an annual in-house sporting competition, to be known as “The Interior Game”, expected to hold between September and October this year, aimed at forging unity and camaraderie among members of staff, as well as encouraging fitness.
In an opening remark, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Bassey Okon Akpanyung, commended the athletes, adding that success must be acknowledged and honoured, no matter how long it took.
He assured them of the Ministry’s support in preparing for the Games this year, and encouraged them to bring home more medals.
In a remark, the national President of FEPGA, Comrade Dalhiru Hassan, commended the Minister for his renowned support of sporting activities, and bestowed on him the title, “the Icon of Sports and Goodwill Ambassador of the Federation of Public Service Games”
