MINISTRY OF INTERIOR GAMES (MIGA 2016) KICKS OFF IN KADUNA
Arrangements have been concluded for the kick-off of the Ministry of Interior biennial Games, MIGA 2016, in Kaduna next week.
The Minister of Interior, Lt Gen Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (Rtd), while addressing journalists, stated that the purpose of the Sports Festival is to strengthen the integration process among the Five Services under the Ministry so as to achieve the Ministry’s mandate of ensuring public safety and security.
The Minister stated that the Games would serve as a unifying factorbetween the Ministry and its Services – Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), adding that this would result in forging synergy and harmony among the Services.
Gen Dambazau noted that the Games would also assist the country in discovering talents for use in both local and international sports festivals.
The Games, slated to hold from 25th – 29th October 2016, is expected to feature ten sports – athletics, badminton, basketball, handball, squash, table tennis, tennis, handball, volleyball and tug-of-war.
