DAMBAZAU CHARGES NEWLY-DECORATED DCGs ON OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE
The Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. (Rtd) Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, has charged the newly-promoted Deputy Controllers-General (DCGs) of the Services under the Ministry on improved service delivery.
Gen. Dambazau gave the charge when he decorated the promoted DCGs of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Prison Service (NPS) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) with the insignia of their new ranks.
He tasked the officers on delivering on the different mandates of their respective Services, and specifically urged them to align with the on-going reforms in the Services.
The Minister urged the DCGs of NIS on the reform on border management and security to stem the influx of irregular immigrants, reduction in the proliferation of small arms and light weapons, and manning the length and breadth of the country’s borders.
On the NPS, Gen. Dambazau tasked them to key into various reforms aimed at transforming the Nigeria Prisons from a punitive to a reformatory facility, in line with the UN minimum standards for inmates.
For the NSCDC, he directed them to intensify efforts in the protection of key national assets and infrastructure, as well as the agricultural assets, through the Agro Rangers Scheme, as the country is diversifying its economy from oil.
He assured them of the support of the Ministry and implored them to reciprocate the gesture by giving the government the best of their service for national development.
Responding on behalf of the decorated DCGs, Inusa Yahaha Daudu of the NIS pledged commitment to their duty and to the mandate of the Services.
He commended the Minister on his dynamism and forthrightness, and promised that the DCGs would work earnestly to positively project the Services, the Ministry and the country.
