FATIMA BINTA AKANDE, BAMIDELE (MRS), PERMANENT SECRETARY,
MINISTRY OF INTERIOR
Fatima Binta Akande, Bamidele (Mrs.) was born in Kaduna on 18th April, 1958. She hails from Ogbomosho in Oyo State. She attended St. Annes Primary School, Kaduna from 1964-1969; Queen Amina Collage, Kaduna for 1970-1974; Collage of Arts & Technology, Zaria from 1974-1976, for her ‘A’ Levels. She obtained her first degree in Accounting from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1979. She became a Chartered Accountant in 1983 as a Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of England and Wales. She is also a Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants of England and Wales (FCCA); Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA); and Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (ACTI).
Mrs. Bamidele worked as a chartered Accountant in the accounting firm of Egunjobi Suleimon & Co. for almost a decade, and thereafter in the Merchant Banking world where she carved a niche for herself. In 1999, she was employed as the first Director of Finance & Accounts of the National Hospital, Abuja. Subsequently, she was absorbed into the mainstream Federal Civil Service and served in various Ministries as Director, Finance & Accounts, amongst which are Ministries of Housing & Urban Development, Environment and Health.
By dint of hard work, honesty of purpose, exemplary discipline, intelligence and grace of the Almighty Allah, she was appointed a Federal Permanent Secretary by the President of Nigeria on 1st January, 2010. She has since served in the Federal Ministry of Science & Technology, Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development and Federal Ministry of Health until she was posted to Federal Ministry of Interior on 26th July, 2013. Mrs. Bamidele has served in various Committees, among which are Committee on (Service-Wide) Insurance Reforms, 2010 and the Presidential Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation October 2012 to date. Mrs. Bamidele is a mother and grand-mother to the glory of God.

The mandate of the Ministry is fostering the maintenance of internal security and citizenship integrity for the promotion of good governance.
About the Ministry
The concern to maintain internal security gave rise to recreation of Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs in 1957. In 2007 following a merger between then Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Police Affairs was named the Ministry of Interior.
