FG TASKS AGENCIES ON INTERNAL SECURITY

The Federal Government has tasked security agencies under the Ministry of Interior in Nigeria to rejig their efforts on internal security, saying the security situation in the country required the concerted efforts of all, in order to protect the lives and properties of the citizens.

The new Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola gave this charge when he was received by the management and staff of the Ministry, led by the Permanent Secretary, Barr. Georgina Ekeoma Ehuriah, following his inauguration by President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, on Wednesday.

"We have the onerous task of ensuring that we give internal security the highest attention knowing that the main thrusts of this administration are Security, Economic rejuvenation and Anti-corruption," he said.

Aregbesola who commended the Permanent Secretary, Barr. Georgina Ekeoma Ehuriah, MON, for her 'high sense of duty, diligence and commitment,' also urged staff of the Ministry to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari towards moving the country to the Next Level of socio-economic development.

He added that he will give a realistic, laudable and commendable leadership to the Ministry.

Ogbeni Aregbesola who said he would fully take over the affairs of the Ministry on Monday 26th August 2019 added: "We are going to re-invent the wheel, if the wheel needs lubrication to work very well, we will grease it,"
