FG PARTNERS NIPR ON SECURITY

As part of the ceaseless efforts of the Federal Government to secure the lives and property of Nigerians and to ensure positive public perception of its activities, the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has expressed the readiness of his Ministry to partner relevant stakeholders, particularly the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

Aregbesola revealed this when he hosted a delegation of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), led by its President, Mallam Muktar Zubair in his office in Abuja, today.

He hinted that specific areas of collaboration would include training of officers and men of the Ministry and its Agencies on effective communication, Public Relations and prompt reportage of the Ministry 's activities to the general public to sustain its positive image.

He stressed that the role of Journalists in information dissemination and promoting positive narratives on government's efforts at a time the country was faced with security challenges could not be overemphasised.

"The role of Journalists in the nation's development through rapid promotion and development of perception, as well as management of communication, cannot be overemphasized," Aregbesola added.

He added that acquisition of Nigerian passport was being done through online means without third party involvement to ensure timely and seamless process, he therefore warned against going through unauthorised means in an attempt to obtain the passport.

According to him, more Data Capturing Centres would be opened across the six Geo-political zones of the country to ease the difficulties being faced during the processing of e-passport.

"Don't keep any secret information about security to yourself, report to the nearby security agencies, " he charged.

Earlier speaking, President of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Mallam Muktar Zubair stated that the association was in the Ministry to seek collaboration in view of the revolutionary positive changes and the giant strides of the present administration in the Ministry and its agencies.

He commended the Minister and his team for their gallantry efforts at addressing the current security threats in the country.
