WELFARE OF STAFF WILL BE MY UPERMOST PRIORITY- DR. OLUWATOYIN

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior - Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade has assured staff of the Ministry of Interior that their welfare will always remain her priority; stating that action is already being taken to address some challenges that will ultimately improve staff welfare and performance.
The Permanent Secretary gave this assurance while declaring open activities marking the 2023 Civil Service Week in Abuja yesterday.
"let me use this opportunity to assure all staff that I have been briefed both by management staff and the Union Executives and I have also seen for my self having gone round the Ministry, the challenges confronting us in the area of work environment, facilities, alignment of offices and capacity development".
The Permanent Secretary, declared that action has commenced to address some of the very pressing challenges, such as in transportation, through rehabilitation of staff buses to ease the present spike in transportation fares.
Dr. Akinlade further promised to improve staff work environment, improve health facilities, provide additional staff buses and more importantly, upgrade staff needed capacity to fit into new government reform policy of automation of the work process.
She explained that the Civil Service Week is marked to appreciate and celebrate civil servants and equally draw attention to key issues that impact on their wellbeing as well as profer solutions for their better service delivery.
The Permanent Secretary informed members that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Yemi- Esan has approved a full package of week-long activities for the year, which includes Juma'at and Church services, keep- fit/aerobics, interactive session of the Head of Service of the Federation with civil servants geared towards improved service delivery and our national economic development.
Earlier, the Director Human Resources Mr. Peter Onoja has commended the Permanent Secretary for being a good administrator and a caring mother.
He explained that, the civil service week celebration is to recognized hard work and diligence in service delivery.
He was happy that the management of the Ministry of Interior found ten of the staff worthy of this year 2023 Civil Service Award after due diligence; made up of nine men and a woman across the Departments.
All Directors, top management staff of the Ministry and a host of well wishers attended the colourful event.
